Captain Zodiac Whale Cruise is located in the scenic fishing village of Cheticamp, at the base of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

We search the waters off Cape Breton Island for migratory whales returning to feed each season.

Our most frequent sightings are Finback whales (2nd largest species), Pilot whales (most entertaining in large pods), Minke whales (first arrival), Humpback whales (tail shots) and Atlantic White-Sided dolphins.

In 2019 we encountered 10 species, including the largest of all, Blue whales!

In 2020 we also encountered 10 species including rare Right whales !

Our Policy : If no whales are seen , customers are offered a full refund !

Ask around , there are no others that will offer such a guarantee!

Testimonials

"We had an amazing tour. Had to go out for maybe 8 miles but the ride in itself was nice too. And there they were: a mother and calf, and I think 5 others. What a thrill to see them so close but without bothering them. Much respect for nature. They changed places, so the one zodiac came in, when the other left. Perfect!!"

"Just spent a fabulous afternoon with Captain Zodiac. Booking was easy, staff very friendly and helpful. Safety always a priority. Life jackets were comfy as was the seating in the zodiac. The Captain took us along the spectacular coast, amazing photo opportunities everywhere. According to the Pilot Whale researchers onboard we were seeing around 100 pilot whales, all very active and just swimming all around our zodiac. We also saw seals, eagles and took a little trip inside a cave!! Kids also given a chance to "drive" the zodiac. Fabulous tour offered by Captain Zodiac. Highly recommend for anyone going around the trail. A real must do activity!"

"We had an amazing time on our trip! Weather couldn't have been better and Captain Quentin took us out. We spoke with a research group that were taking pictures and monitoring the finback and pilot whales. We asked questions and got some education on these fantastic mammals. Then we saw 2 finback, numerous times and pods of pilot whales. As well as feeding tuna - which was fun. The Captain was very professional and safety conscious. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and this day was a highlight of our entire vacation. Thank you so much!"

"Went on a whale watching trip with this company who promised a whale sighting or our money back!
We went out with captain Wesley for 4 hours and unfortunately..... not a whale in site!
However- we saw blue fin tuna, seals, a very friendly sunfish ( amazing creature!!) and soaring bald eagles overhead.
The lack of whales was not for want of trying and the trip was equally enjoyable without them!
Also - the company was true to their word and gave us a full refund. Not many companies would do that!
Thank you Wesley for trying so hard - maybe we can return one day and try again !"
